Silverado's mission is to provide the maximum quality of life at every stage of the condition of dementia. Many residents move into Silverado over-sedated and debilitated. Residents' medications are reviewed by the clinical team and can often be reduced. Physical therapy and restorative care can assist residents to regain their abilities to enjoy greater independence. At Silverado, so far over 3,000 residents have regained the ability to walk, over 2,200 regained the ability to feed themselves, and over 600 regained independence in their self-toileting. (See chart). Through these improvements, residents reclaim both independence and self esteem.
