Silverado At Home Training Program

Silverado At Home Geriatric Care Manager & Personal Attendant Training
All Silverado At Home, associates that will be providing personal services independently to our clients are required to complete a Silverado At Home Orientation, demonstrating hands-on care skills by completing a comprehensive skills checklist, and complete the Silverado Dementia Specific Training Course. The Silverado At Home Orientation is completed during the first week of employment, and before working independently with clients, hands-on skills training must be completed and show demonstrated competency.

LIFE Leaders Training
All Associates who are in a supervisory capacity at Silverado are required to take a training program called LIFE Leaders Training. Unlike many of our competitors Silverado believes very strongly in making sure that all supervisors have the skills necessary to provide an engaging work environment for our Associates. We make a major investment in this training ensuring that supervisors complete four full days of training that cover eight modules. The modules provide a foundation in leadership and communication skills. They also take participants on a deep dive into how to set performance standards and goals, how to coach Associates and provide performance feedback to them. Other lessons taught include discipline, resolving conflict and delegating effectively.

By giving our supervisors the skills and tools to better manage their staff we can continue to build our LOVE>fear culture. Administrators who feel truly supported by their management are more engaged in their jobs and are able to give more Silverado love to their residents, family members and co-workers.

Leadership Development Forum
At Silverado we believe in growing our own leaders whenever possible. Outstanding Associates who have demonstrated strong leadership potential are nominated for the year-long Leadership Development Forum (LDF). This program is facilitated by an organizational development professional and features members of Silverado's executive team as guest speakers. Participants become grounded in a leadership competency model that focuses on Personal Leadership, People Leadership, Thought Leadership and Results Leadership.
The year-long journey involves self-assessment, building professional relationships across Silverado service lines, learning leadership skills, and completing a leadership project that will potentially impact how Silverado does business. Most of the graduates of this program have been promoted to higher levels in the organization, taken on larger roles, or have gone on to become Administrators or Regional Executives with Silverado.

Medical Training
California requires 12 hours of annual dementia training for all direct care staff (care givers and nurses). All of our staff including in-direct care staff complete between 12- 30 hours of dementia specific training. The direct care staff complete between 40 and 50 hours of dementia training a year. Although California requires more training than any other state we have communities in, we require the same amount of training for all Silverado communities. Our policy is that direct care staff take a weekly dementia specific training. Our associates have 30-40 hours of dementia training, far exceeding the State requirement of 12 hours.
