Silverado Hospice patients and families experience Love, Innovation, Family and Engagement through our special hospice programs.
Petals for patients: A fresh bouquet of flowers delivered to patients homes at a minimum of a monthly basis. Fresh cut flowers generate a soothing odor and visual comfort as well as brighten a room, lighten a heavy atmosphere and uplift spirits. This program is provided for through our Volunteer Department.
11th Hour Vigil Volunteers: This program is extended to all hospice patients at the end-of life. Mature and compassionate volunteers, who receive intensive End-of Life training, stay with the patient during the last days or hours of life. Patients who reside in facilities may have families residing in other states. This program affords these families the security that their loved one won't pass without someone who cares at their bedside. Additionally, families who are primary caregivers are afforded relief so that they can have some time to take care of their own needs during these highly emotional and stressful moments.
Massage Therapy: Everyone needs to be touched. The need is no less in terminal patients. There are special methods of touch that can enhance the experience, and lessen any discomfort. Massage therapy is a well-established method of stimulating circulation, easing tension and pain, and assisting relaxation.
Go Wish: A program whereby the hospice patient chooses specific things that they would like achieve during their End-of-Life journey. The Hospice team assists and facilitates the patient and family in realizing a dream large or small. This could be reconnecting with a loved one and visiting a special place once more.
Silver PAWS - Pets Are Worth Sharing: A unique program of Pet Therapy whereby trained volunteers and pets visit patients in their home. Pets have been proven to provide comfort and joy through interaction due to their ability to give and receive love unconditionally. Animals can break through communication barriers in a way that words cannot match, and have long been used to reach residents in Silverado's Senior Living communities.

“Please pass this heartfelt thank you along to those who participated in the care of my brother-in-law. It is very important to me that they know how much we appreciate them and that we never would have experienced the healing that occurred in this family without their help. We thank you, Silverado, from the bottom of our hearts!”
