Katie Ruebsamen, M.S.W.

Administrator

Katie is excited to join the Silverado Senior Living-Newport Mesa family. She received her Masters in Social Work from California State University, Long Beach with an emphasis in mental health studies and received her B.A. in Psychology from California State University, Fullerton.

Katie has worked with several different populations in the social service field. These include children with developmentally delayed disorders, at-risk youth, older adults, and family caregivers. She has facilitated support groups, instructed educational seminars, developed course curriculum, and implemented counseling and case management services so as to best serve the older adult and family caregiver communities. Katie values the strengths based perspective and is eager use this perspective to give LIFE to the residents and families and Silverado Senior Living-Newport Mesa.

Jason Abney, D.O.

Medical Director

Dr. Abney is board certified in Family Medicine and his residency training program focused on Geriatric Medicine, where he served as Chief Resident. He is also the Medical Director of Silverado Hospice - Orange County, a Home Health Medical Director, as well as an Associate Medical Director for his Medical Group. Dr. Abney also teaches medical students and residents with whom he is able to share his deep passion for elderly care.

Dr. Abney's compassion for working with the elderly started at a young age because of his loving relationship with his grandparents. His philosophy of care centers on providing the most compassionate and dignified experience to both the patient and families, a mutual outlook that makes him a wonderful addition to our Silverado – Newport Mesa team.

Jesse Goodman, R.N.

Director of Health Services

Jesse recently joined the Silverado family this last April, 2011. He achieved his Registered Nurse licensure and degree through Utah Valley University in Orem, UT and is currently working on a Master’s degree from Western Governors University.

Jesse has a passion for working with the elderly. He has worked in the skilled nursing arena for the last 4 years, where he most recently as a Director of Nursing. Jesse is an exemplary model of Silverado’s core values and truly believes in giving LIFE to our residents and families. He is a constant reminder of our philosophy of Love is Greater than fear. Jesse has been married since 2008 and was blessed with a new baby in December 2010.

Modesto Trujillo

Culinary Director

Modesto joined Silverado Senior Living –Newport Mesa in 1998 as a cook in training with Morrison Senior Dining catering company. He was here when the community opened in 1998 and here to serve the first resident! Modesto has 17 years of experience working in culinary services. He started out his culinary career working as a waiter while in high school. Before Silverado he worked for a senior retirement community in the Huntington Beach area.

Modesto loves working with the residents and he does what he can for them. He gives a lot of personal attention to their dietary needs and accommodates their wishes the best way he can. He always goes the extra mile for our residents and families, and he does whatever it takes to make them happy. He really enjoys working at Silverado and hopes to stay with Silverado for years to come. Modesto is married with 3 children.

Jackie Jonovic

Director of Resident Engagement

Jackie is overjoyed to become a part of the Silverado Senior Living-Newport Mesa family. She began working for Silverado in August 2007. Jackie earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from California State University Fullerton and is a California certified Activities Director. She has worked for the past eight years in activities and volunteered with several organizations planning, developing, and implementing events and activities.

Jackie’s personal interest in working with dementia care first started when her grandfather was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 1992. Recently her mother was also diagnosed with the disease, and is cared for at home by Jackie and her sisters. With a knowledge and passion for enriching the daily lives and activities of seniors, Jackie also embraces each activity with understanding and compassion.
