Stories & Testimonials

"For those of you who knew Dorothy, my mom, I want you to know how much she felt your love and caring. You have all been a part of her family for so long. I'm sure you each have had special moments and memories with her. My appreciation and love for you all goes beyond words. What you people do is truly a gift from God."
- Kimberly, daughter of Silverado resident

"Our Father, Stan came to live at Silverado in August of this year after having been "kicked out" of another Senior Home in Camarillo. I can now say that his leaving the other facility was probably the best thing that could have happened. From the first day of his arrival at Silverado we have always felt so welcomed, even when we bring our grand baby and dogs. My dad cannot express himself, but I can tell that he is truly happy at Silverado and considers it his home. I am so comforted knowing that my dad is living in such a secure, safe and positive facility. During our visits, dad usually tends to wonder off leaving us not much to do but observe what is going on around us. On so many occasions I have watched many of you interacting with the residents. It is always with patience, caring, and respect. I extend to you ALL, my most sincere THANK YOU, I wish I knew all of your names, but those that I do know......THANK YOU!"
- Rebecca, daughter of Silverado resident

"Placing a loved one in a care facility is a very difficult decision to make. Silverado Calabasas made a difficult situation easier. My mother had Alzheimer's disease, and it was no longer an option for her to live alone. I live out of the area, so was looking for a place that would be very attentive to her, since I could not be there myself. The high staff/resident ratio was attractive, as was having round-the-clock nursing. I also liked the fact that they specialize in memory care, and are experienced in dealing with dementia patients."

"The building and grounds there are bright, attractive and spacious. Dogs wonder about and birds sing in their cages, making the place feel more home-like. But most importantly, the staff is very caring and supportive, both of the residents and the families. Dealing with dementia patients is a very challenging task, and they approach it with patience and skill. They coax and encourage, never force or restrain. And communication with me as to my mom's status was frequent and informative. They always made me sure I knew what was going on, even if it seemed minor."

"Even with the best care, mishaps can happen. When mom fell and needed to go to the emergency room, Silverado, unlike many other facilities, always sent someone to be with her. And they were proactive in trying to improve her situation. When her declinde worsened, I agreed to Silverado's suggestion of hospice care, and was very pleased with how hospice took care of her, and how they all advocated for her."

"My mother was at Silverado for 3 1/2 years. When she passed away, I not only felt her loss, but also the loss of talking regularly to the staff who had become my friends."
- Karen, daughter of Silverado resident

"From the minute she arrived at Silverado, I could sense that my mother felt safe and loved there. It was so clear that the staff knew exactly what to do and that they really cared about her. For my mother, it was as though she could finally relax and say to herself, 'I'm in the right place.' As many know when dealing with memory loss, you use it or lose it. That is the greatest thing about Silverado - the mental and physical stimulation." Read Story
