She joined the Silverado Family in March 2011. Lesly has always been an advocate for the health and fitness industry. She worked with Lancaster Sports Medicine from 1992-1994 where she helped to develop aqua therapy classes for patients rehabilitating from knee, hip and back surgeries. Her national certifications include “Twinges in the Hinges” by the Arthritis Foundation, The American Council on Exercise, United States Water Fitness Association and Fitness Instructor Training. She still enjoys substituting water classes at her nearby YMCA.
Lesly completed her Early Childhood Development classes in 1984 and received her Teacher’s Certificate from Moorpark College. She enjoyed working in the preschool environment, however water therapy classes, which consisted mainly of older adults, drew her closer to working with this population.
Prior to her joining Silverado Lesly worked with MDVIP, the nation’s leader in membership medicine. As a patient advocate, she worked closely with patients to educate and enroll them into their physician’s new medical practices which emphasized wellness and preventive healthcare. She accepted a regional manager role and worked transitioning physicians and their staff into the MDVIP model and practice management.
In 2009 she joined A Place For Mom, the nation’s largest free referral agency as an Eldercare Advisor to assist families find the best options for the care and housing needs of their loved ones. The partner relationships she developed with assisted living drew her to advocate their unique services. At Silverado, embracing the residents who live with memory impairment is very rewarding and educational.
This year Lesly was instrumental in the registration of Silverado Calabasas for the Memory Walk “Walk to End Alzheimer’s” where they raised $1660.00. This year Lesly plans to become accredited through the Alzheimer’s Association to provide training and awareness to staff members and/or family caregivers and volunteers in her community.
In her free time Lesly likes cycling with her husband of 36 years and has served for three years feeding the homeless at the San Fernando Valley Rescue Mission. She is active with her church and community group.
