Silverado Senior
Living - Calabasas is a specialized community for all stages of
Alzheimer's Disease and related dementias that provides services
ranging from day care to respite through hospice. This vibrant home is
located in Calabasas on five acres of beautiful hillside grounds just
1.2 miles from the 101 Freeway.
Sensory gardens, one and one half
acres of wandering paths, children on-site and a variety of pets
surround residents with life. In fact, when you stop by, you will find
that our warm and welcoming environment is designed to provide
everyone - residents, staff and visitors - with all the comforts of
home. We created our living rooms, country kitchens and spacious
home-like decor because Silverado IS home for each of us. Residents,
family members, and staff associates are all part of the extended
Silverado family and everything we do here reflects that feeling.

You will also discover
that Silverado Senior Living is unlike any Alzheimer's or dementia
community you have ever seen. We set the gold standard. Our
Life-Purpose philosophy of care combines state-of-the-art care giving
treatment with compassion and empathy. We believe that getting
Alzheimer's Disease (or any long-term disability) does not mean the
end of living. Everyone needs a reason to get up in the morning and to
have a sense of value, so residents at Silverado have meaningful
things to do. To the best of their individual abilities and with the
aid of staff, residents help to feed and walk the pets, water the
plants and perform other routine daily tasks.
Interactive, intergenerational
and age-appropriate activities integrate
aromatherapy, benevolent
touch, music, art, exercise, mental stimulation and socialization into
everyday life. Every opportunity is taken to give residents a sense of
purpose.
Important to many families is the knowledge
that Silverado welcomes the most advanced and difficult to place
residents. Our staff works with residents to modify their actions, as
opposed to trying to control behavior with medications or restraints.
Because difficult behavior often stems from
boredom, loneliness and feelings of helplessness, we have developed
redirection techniques and other non-restrictive ways to help
residents cope. Our clinical outcomes demonstrate an impressive record
of improvement in our population. Families are amazed at how much improvement is
possible.
Resident
centered and family supportive, Silverado encourages and promotes
family participation. We will assist you in learning more about the
complex medical, clinical, pharmacological and social needs of your
loved one and our staff will work with you to create a personalized
care plan. We offer support groups, educational seminars, respite care
and opportunities to participate in community meetings. Additionally,
you may visit your loved one at any time of the day or night, seven
days a week - our doors are always open to you. When you visit, bring
the children and pets and feel free to join your loved one for a meal
(always complimentary to visitors) in our private family dining room.
Or come to one of our planned events such as a country western
barbecue or Hawaiian luau. Join in the music and dancing - we believe
in having fun.
Finally, Silverado offers you peace of mind
and hope for the future. Here, residents are cared for with dignity,
respect and the belief that a life of quality and purpose is possible
regardless of personal circumstance or health status. Our secure
perimeters provide complete safety without restricting resident
activity. We have licensed nurses onsite around the clock to provide
the best in medical care, allowing residents to age in place. Families
need not suffer the trauma of moving their loved one. And, we
participate in ongoing research with universities as we continue the
quest for a cure, for new and innovative treatment techniques, and
ultimately, for a way to prevent dementia.
