We believe that Hospice patients have the right to continue life to the fullest extent possible according to their circumstances, and in fostering opportunities for growth and fulfillment. We further recognize patients and families’ decision-making rights in relation to continuing medical treatments and their right to withdraw treatment whose benefits are outweighed by their burdens.

Silverado Hospice cares for patients with all types of diagnoses. Cardiac, oncology, and pulmonary disease are some of the common diseases we are trained to manage. In addition, all of our Hospice staff has special expertise in meeting the needs of dementia patients at the end of life.

Our award-winning care for Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia has been nationally recognized. Affiliated with leading research universities, Silverado remains on the leading edge in the development and usage of new caregiving techniques.

Along with services of the health care team, Silverado Hospice provides:

Medications for pain management
Medical Equipment and Supplies
Respite Care - Hospice will pay for placement in a care center up to 5 days
Bereavement Services - Hospice offers support for the family to promote healthy and meaningful mourning.
Silverado Hospice is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Admission Criteria

Terminal illness with a prognosis of six months or less.

Consent of patient and family.

Physician order for Hospice care.

Agreement that treatment goals will shift from curative to palliative care.

The patient’s regiment will center on achieving comfort and symptom control.

Hospice Insurance
Hospice care is fully covered by Medicare and Medi-Cal benefits.

Most private insurance and HMOs cover Hospice. Silverado staff will verify insurance coverage for you, and explain the available benefits

All care unrelated to the terminal illness continues to be paid for by Medicare and Medi-Cal, or other appropriate insurance.
